Cochin Variety
Cochin chickens are beloved for their gentle personalities, fluffy appearance, and strong broody instincts. These large, friendly birds make a wonderful addition to backyard flocks and are especially popular with families and first-time chicken keepers.
Known for their calm and docile nature, Cochins are easy to handle and generally get along well with other breeds. They often enjoy human interaction and can become friendly, personable members of the flock.
Appearance
Cochins are large, rounded chickens covered in abundant, soft, fluffy feathers that extend down their legs and feet. Their feathering gives them their signature fluffy appearance while providing good insulation in cooler weather.
They have a single upright comb, bright eyes, and a short, curved beak.

Care & Climate
Cochins do particularly well in cooler climates thanks to their abundant feathering. Because of their large size and heavy feathering, they can be more sensitive to extreme heat and require appropriate shade, ventilation, fresh water, and other hot-weather care.
